1999 Chevy Venture

I have a 99 Chevy venture that runs great when cold. When it reaches normal operating temperature it dies. When you try to restart it it spits and sputters backfiring through exhaust and engine. If you let it cool down it will restart and run until reachile normal temp then repeats the sputtering and backfiring. Where should I start?

Get a free scan and see if any codes are stored. If that shows up something wrong, then test that component before replacing it. If nothing shows up, you really have no choice but to either a) guess blindly or b) take it to a shop while it is acting up, and have them read the various modules and sensors in "real time". A good tech will identify the problem.

On your own with a pro scan tool, about the only logical thing you can do is see if you can borrow or rent a fuel pressure gauge and see if fuel pressure is dropping over time.
