his last update i could find on the range rover was from 9/15 and " half way through the warranty period, CarMax has paid out a total of $6,488.03 in warranty claims."

    it cost him $3900.

I hit Jalopnik.com about as often as I do edmunds.com's long term updates. Which is way more than I should. Doug's articles are hilarious.

Even given the history (which I wasn't aware that this vehicle HAD a bad history), the low price makes sense. Carmax really wants the vehicles that Edmunds typically has. 1 year old, 20,000 mile models. They will sell them for literally about as much as you can find new (often MORE than that). This is where they make their money. Once it goes past 5 years old, they are going to auction it which means THEY aren't getting squat for it and you are going to get even less. This is where people think that Carmax is lowballing them, but this is just what happens at auctions. Its not the nice fancy dealership anymore. Keep in mind that you can't even select less than 2005 on Carmax's website for searching, so yeah, the price makes sense.

It took CarMax long enough to make adjustments for the Doug effect.

Lets be honest, is anyone really surprised that a Mopar Product (whether FCA or whatever name) gets a low-ball purchase/trade in offer?

Jeep Wranglers get one of the highest purchase/trade in offers. People can't get enough Wranglers.

@desmolicious : For the most part, Jeeps, particularly Wranglers, are not the norm for a Dodge/Chysler/FCA product
