The adaptive cruise control system in our 2016 Honda Civic has malfunctioned. We're not sure why.

The structures in your bumper that house the radar may need cleaning off. Try that before you take it for service.

The cameras/radar also shut down in extreme heat, so I am not sure if this is a problem where you are now.

Aaaand here is the other issue with self-driving cars - "rebooting - please wait..." at 75 mph while you're looking at your phone.

The car got self awareness and didn't like what you said about its adaptive cruise control performance. So now it's going to kill you all and look like an accident. Repent!

I know these active safety systems aren't supposed to replace driver awareness, but this sort of randomness is concerning. And "reboot" issues seem to be fairly common - not just with Honda. Do we really need all this stuff? Also, I'm saddened to see so many modern cars going to all (or mostly) digital dashboards. I much prefer a nice looking set of gauges for speedometer and tachometer. I don't mind a small info screen between them, or the larger in-dash screens (though I HATE the screens that look like they're stuck on top of the dash), but I really don't like the trend of the main gauges all on a screen. Unfortunately it looks like I'm going to have to get used to it. I just hope these things still work and don't have a bunch of dead pixels in 10-15 years.

Could it be related at all to the replaced windshield? Are there any scanners there that might be giving off distorted readings?

The problem is probably a faulty sensor or software related. But it also happened after the windshield was changed. I wonder if the camera may have been damaged during the change or the replacement windshield is not aligned correctly with the camera.

Too bad car displays/screens aren't held to the same standards of robustness & reliability as those in airplanes. Someday, perhaps...

ACC problem on a brand new Civic - I have a similar experience ACC and a bunch other collision, changing lane and brake system warning light coming on suddenly while driving my less than 150 miles brand new 2017 civic sport touring hatchback on the highway. I was not using the ACC system at the time. Dealer has no clue and asked me to bring it in for service.

Not sure it is a related problem or not, it also has a TPMS alert light problem. On the second day I drove the day (less than 50 miles), the low pressure warning light came on although the tires had the correct psi readings. I recalibrated it and the TPMS came on agin after 20 or so miles.

I agreed w/ Longtimelurker, perhaps Honda is losing its touch in the reliability department.
