Hi All,

I am new to US and currently working with Acura dealers to find out the best deal. Not sure if financing would be a better fit or buying. Here is the quote from one of the dealer

MSRP - 38964
It boils down to 42889 OTD price.

with 5000 down leasing for 36 month cost 461/m with RV of 24406. In case of finance with same DP EMI is 717 for 60 months.

Need help if I shall negotiate further. What shall be the MSRP ideally should be paid.

Lets work on terms first.

MSRP is the bottom line on the official window sticker.
When you negotiate a lower price, that is the selling price or sale price. The MSRP is still the MSRP.

So, what is the MSRP of the vehicle (the number on the window sticker)
And, what price did the dealer quote you?

Also, what state and tax rate?

Thanks much. The sticker price was 40010.00 The dealer quoted me 38964. I am San Jose CA. Tax rate calculated was around 8.7%. Including all charges the OTD is 42889. I need to know what shall be right OTD price for same vehicle.

With tax, title/license/doc fees, that out the door price is about right for a purchase. But, about $3400 of that is tax, and that won't be relevant for a lease. In California, on a lease, the monthly payment is taxed, not the selling price of the vehicle. However, you'll have to pay a $595 acquisition fee on a lease.

Also, if you lease, there is $1500 bonus cash.

$1050 off MSRP doesn't seem like a very big discount.
You can use the Make/Model/Year tabs at the top of the page to get Edmunds TMV, and see how that compares.

Thanks much. I was able to bring down 2016 model to purchase price of 34700. As you know that 2017 model is available now and few dealers still has 2016 model to.. After all taxes it will cost me 38219 in CA. Do you think its good deal.

2017 model purchase price came to 36950 with tech package. Including all taxes OTD for this one is 40679. Which one you suggest as better one.
