Unknown Engine Part - 2008 Honda Accord - 4 cyl

Can anyone tell me what this black plastic compartment type piece is? It's under the hood, right at the front, in the middle. It looks like air goes in here, but it also appears like something should be inside of it. However, there is nothing in there. It's empty. It opens up, similar to the way the air filter compartment would open up. Is this the intake for combustion air?
