TRANSMISSION FAILURE ON 2007 YUKON DENALI XL

Bought a 2007 gmc yukon denali with 94k miles last march. Took 1st road trip from longisland ny to sc. Half way there truck shifted to low and would not come out of 1st. Took batt neg cable off and let trans cool, made it to sc only to have it crap out again. Gmc dealer in conway sc had to replace for 3010.00.
I still love the truck

What was the final issue before spending so much? My truck lost power going down the Hwy but regained it again shortly after. Short on power going up hills and when going after having to stop. Have and about 4k put into it and same lights, stability track, engine, now sensor light for wheel.
