This is the first time I have considered leasing a car and would like an opinion on this offer:

    Location: Tennessee

Model: 2017 Volkswagen Passat R Line

    MSRP: 25,440

    Selling Price: 22,750

    15K/36months

Down Payment: $2,000 (includes all fees/taxes according to dealer)

    Monthly Payment: $266.48

    OR

    18K/36months

    Monthly Cost: $298.57

Do either of these offers seem like a good deal?

    Thanks for your help!

    .00001 and 45% for 36/15

With your MSRP and selling price, I get $314/mo before tax.

Ask the dealer for the specific breakdown of the $2000 up front.

Our recommendation is to limit the up front cash to just the first payment and DMV costs.

They are saying $321.79 with no money down, if that matters. I will try to get the breakdown of the 2K and report back.

Hi, I am new to this forum. Looking at a '17 SE V6 w/ tech. Selling price is $27k, retail is $30,465. MF is .00001, residual is $14623. $1500 out of pocket, 10k miles, 36 months. Monthly payment is around $480 including 9.5% sales tax (Redmond WA). This includes $4k of negative equity on my current VW lease that I am trading in. I think without the trade in, the monthly payment would be around $400-410 but not 100% sure on that. Can someone tell me if the lease itself is a good deal? I know being upside down $4k isn't ideal but looking for a bigger car. Thanks to all

If $27K is the adjusted CAP cost, then I get $344/mo.+tax = $377/mo.
    Adding $4000 negative equity = $455/mo.+tax = $498/mo.

I would suck it up and keep driving your current lease. If you roll $4000 of negative equity, you also pay sales tax on that amount.

    Thanks so much for this!

What's the current MF and Residual for an R-Line 36/12 in the Los Angeles area?

Does the current $750 rebate for Memorial Day apply to R-Lines?

Looking for MF/RV for both 36/10 and 36/12 Passat SEL premium in KC area.

Also, i'm seeing a dealer 5k off 36mo and 6k off 48mo lease. What is the basis for that? Lease Cash? Rebate?

Lease cash amount is the same, regardless of lease length.

Could this be a 3rd party bank your dealer is using?

I have two months payment left on a 2014 passat sel premium at 380/mo. Looking to get into a 2017 sel premium. Dealer has offered to pay last two months of my lease payment and let me lease the new sel premium at 398/mo at zero down. This monthly payment includes tax. The sales price is said to be 26578. But they are getting the car from another dealer who's internet price is 25815. Based on the 0.00001 MF and 48% RV (36/10), i think they are giving me the monthly payment based on the 25815 and somehow adding 760 to get the the sales price of 26578 but giving me cash back on the deal.

Thoughts? I can't tell if this is a solid deal. I would like to add tint and a tip spoiler and get closer to 390/mo.....

OR should i just take this deal and run with it?

That's a purchase quot. ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost and see what they say.

And, it's disingenuous to say that "transport" is broken out. That cost is part of the factory sticker.

That's a purchase quot. ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost and see what they say.

And, it's disingenuous to say that "transport" is broken out. That cost is part of the factory sticker.
Oh, and them giving you a check for the remaining lease payments is also not cool. You would still be on the hook for any end of lease charges.

What is the MSRP and the adjusted cap cost of this deal?

How much do they want at signing?

    State and tax rate?

Any dealer installed accessories are charged 100% over the lease term.

    I confirm the .00001 and 48%

    $3150 lease cash
msrp is 31815, cap cost is 26578, tax is 1197.72, fees is 229.50, drive off is 398.84 net residual is 15271 after 3 years

    This is in Missouri
    Where is the acquisition fee?

If I add the tax and fees to the cap cost, I get a payment of $354/mo

I did the math and it looks like the 398/mo rate is with MSRP at 31815, Sales price of 28665 (essentially just taking off the lease cash), 229 of fees resulting in a gross cap cost of 28894. They are taking first month as down payment of 398. that results in an adjusted cap cost of 28496.

This is using tax rate of 8.475%.

So really nothing more than giving me the lease cash. Not sure I trust the 765 in cash for the two lease payments. I am dealing with a different dealer than the original lease. Would that make a difference? I was hoping they would just take the car back and pay off the 2 months.

    Sound right to you?

They won't take the car back, unless the remaining payments are added into the new lease.

You should get the payoff and trade values of your current car. That information will help with your negotiations.

Thanks for the information. Should I subtract the $3150 from sticker price or the price dealer is giving me as cost of the car?

    Thanks

I get $275/mo with tax, using those numbers.

Your deal looks pretty good, by comparison.
