The price sounds like you're getting a good deal since the CPO runs about $22,680. You can appraise it yourself at the What's My Car Work link up top. I picked silver, Clean condition and assumed you are looking at an AWD one up there and came up with a CPO price of $22,686.
I'm okay with them although I share your concerns with certain brands (Nissan had a bunch of bugs with their CVTs, for example). I guess you saw this post/TSB link though.
We're thinking about a Civic and its engine and transmission are getting rave reviews, both for performance and mpg.
You'll get a lot of long use out of the 2012 and you'll be able to re-enter the market in a decade, knowing that the bugs are really worked out (or you can say "told you so" ).
