Dear Stever, I am in the market for a new 2016 CR-V EX-L 2WD without Nav. Unfortunately, my area in Baton Rouge, LOuisiana flooded and ppl from several parishes are now in the market like me as well. I was hoping to negotiate an OTD price of somewhere between $27,000-$28,000 if possible. But, our tax here is insane (9.5%). I'm not sure if our area would make this deal. Any info on the invoice price on this car model in Baton Rouge, LA? Should I go to New Orleans and look? Thank you!

Hi @lseibe1, you're not in a good place at the moment trying to get a new CR-V. Please see this post from a week ago - that buyer is in a similar situation and I think decided to wait, since he was able to delay his purchase. It sounds like New Orleans dealers are way busy because of the flooding too.

Some people have considered buying a CR-V in Virginia and spending $500 to $800 to have their car shipped to them.

You're stuck with your tax rate in either case though.

Invoice is $27,602 and the TMV average price paid in NO is almost $28,500.

You may want to check out a Price Promise certificate and see if that gets you closer to your number.

From your post on my wall, $27,800 would work for you and considering that your tax bill is going to be ~$2,700, that OTD number does look pretty good.

Thank you for your professional opinion, I may try to wait it out a bit longer as long as I have a rental car for transportation.

The other issue is that CR-V inventory is shrinking everywhere for the 2016s, and I imagine that shrinkage is happening faster down there.

Good luck and please keep us posted on how your search goes.
