Car & Driver reported similar results from using the trip planning function when driving their LT Model S from Ann Arbor to VIR for last year's Lightning Lap.

This year they just mapped their own route and shaved 2 hours off the total travel time and reduced total time spent charging by 90 minutes.

The guys on the Tesla forums all say the trip planning is junk and should be ignored. Tesla shows no interest in fixing it.

Count me in that camp. I felt much more on top of things during our record run from LA to NYC in our departed Model S, a trip that was conducted before they added that "feature" to their software.
