So on the Mitsubishi 02 Galant Its been acting up so I go get the codes read comes, back for cam position sensor so I get a new sensor put it in and the runs realley rough stumbling all the way and cuts off I try a couple more times same thing why would a new part make it run like that I also contacted the part store they exchanged for still another new part I put it in SAME THING runs really rough stumbles cuts off. so I put the old sensor back in and starts up runs but when I put it in gear it starts missing really bad take it out of gear and it idols fine over 1000 rpm until it warms up a bit then under that it cuts off what gives

Just going by the code doesn't necessarily indicate the defective part or circuit. The codes only give you some direction, not an answer. If your CPS code is on, you may have a bad misfire being detected, so your problem might be in the ignition circuit----coil, plugs, wires or PCM perhaps. You'll need a scan tool to read some real-time data on this one.

OK Thanks I was thinking I'm probably going to let my mechanic handle this one I try to do as much as I can myself I'm not going to keep putting parts on. I will post what I find out though

Had the codes checked ps302 cylinder misfire so I switch plugs and get the same code switch the coil packs around cylinder 2 misfire code wondering if maybe its the injector on cylinder 2 I have now just put some injector cleaner in it to see if maybe its colgged up any tips for cleaning out dirty injectors?

Not so easy to clean---have you done a compression test yet on that cylinder? Checked for a vacuum leak. There are quite a few things that can cause a misfire.

I have done a compression test and it does have compression on that cylinder, was looking around for a vacuum leak at one of the hoses and it doesent look like any of them are bad. I also did a resistance check on each injector and they were all between 13.9 and 14.4 ohms, I put some injector cleaner in and I'm in the process of running that through the system. I heard that it could be one of the lobes on the cam at that cylinder is that a possibility? I sure hope not.

Well a lob THAT bad would show up on a compression test, because the intake wouldn't open far enough.

Are you sure you have an impulse to the injector from the PCM?

I don't know how to check for that can I use a multimeter or do I need a special tool
