Long Road Trips - 2,000 miles plus

We are thinking about buying a new 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid (49/47 mpg). Would this be wise or would we be just as well off with a standard Accord or other car that gets 30-35 mpg on the highway?

I regularly do long road trips of 1,500 to 2,500 miles at a shot, often times driving straight thru by trading off driving duty with my wife. Will a long Interstate road trip at 65 mph (+ or -) deplete the battery reserve and result in the majority of the trip being operated in gasoline mode? What kind of mileage can we expect on such a trip with a Hybrid? We have owned a 2012 Hyundai Sonata that regularly got 30 to 35 mpg on these trips and we were very happy with it but would like to get even better mileage out of a Hybrid if that's possible doing this kind of driving. Anybody have any real world experience with this kind of driving that they can share? Thanks...
