2002 New Beetle Turbo S, gas. 29 City - 34 Highway. 6 gear manual.
Both use 93 octane gas.
20 Hwy.
Very disgusted.
Had the computer checked twice. I do not drive like a maniac. My commute to work is 3 miles each way. Very unhappy. VW says nothing they can do. I am ready to sell it.
I have every tank full documented, lowest 44 mpg (75% freeway traffic, light to bumper to bumper), 48 highway average. Daily commute (20% city, 80% highway, range is 48-51 mpg, 50 mile R/T ) highest 62 mpg. 2003 TDI Jetta, 5-spd, app 68,000 miles
I lifted your format, just substituted my data.
I do use 93 octane. The past holiday weekend i average 32mpg. on a 1100 mile jaunt to West Texas! :surprise:
Some folks really do this kind of stuff as a hobby. I have heard of running the car with 1/2 tank of fuel, removal of rear seats, no spare tire or tools, etc, etc,.
The engine is at a high RPM at highway speeds of 65MPH.
Daily Commute, 60/40 to 70/30 mix of highway and bumper-to-bumper, 19-21 MPG
I think the automatic really kills the mileage in this car, winds up being the same or a little worse than my 2001 Buick Regal GS with it's 3.8L supercharged V6.
