2017 Mazda 3 driving experience
One thing I noticed on my new 2017 Mazda 3 GTA is a slightly stiffer power steering than my three Corollas I own. Not hard or detrimental by any means, but definitely different. I read that Mazda uses a system that is actually hydralic but aided by electronics whereas the newer 2009 Toyotas and after, are fully electronic. I thought increasing the tire pressures might help but it made no difference. I'm already at 37 psi and don't want to go any higher to avoid a stiffer ride. The car definitely has some guts with the 2.5 liter motor. Ride is smooth and comfortable. Interior noise is not an issue. I think I like the JBL stereo on my 2009 Corolla XLE better than the Bose speakers in my new Mazda 3. I would prefer a way to turn the radio off when shutting down the Mazda, but there isn't any. I am always one for turning off all accessories in my cars before shutting them down to avoid excessive current draw on next start-up. Another thing I notice is that the cruise control will stay on and ready for a new setting at the next start-up unless it is manually shut-off after using it. On my Corollas it automatically shuts off for the next start-up. and has to be turned back on. Other then that I'm very pleased so far with my choice of a 2017 Mazda 3.
