Are you a current or recent car shopper who bought an EV and then installed solar – or who had solar already, making the decision to go electric easier?
OR
Are you a recent EV buyer (past 3 months) as a result of manufacturer incentives and dealer discounts on these vehicles, including year-end deals? Were you convinced to buy an EV after finding a good end-of-year deal, or due to uncertainty around which EVs will no longer qualify for full/partial EV tax credits in 2024? Just Purchased 2017 Subaru Crosstrek Premium - Was The Deal Too Good?
Hi,
After a month of bad experiences with Nissan Rogue dealers, we ended up buying a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek Premium manual transmission for $21,114 plus tax, title and $169 doc fee. We're in Chicago.
The closest other offer on the vehicle was in Colorado for $200 more and with a $490 dealer prep fee.
This price seems very low to me. Other dealers thought perhaps we were buying the base model, but this one has all the standard options (heated side mirrors and seats, rear window privacy, body color side mirrors, orange stitching etc) found in the premium.
We've had a few bad experiences with dealers along the way, so I am suspicious when something seems too good to be true.
The deal was easy. We sent out internet inquiries asking for the best price on the identical vehicle. We received the $21,114 and jumped on it. We didn't even bother to negotiate, which goes against my personality, but the price seemed so good compared to others we didn't want to blow it by being greedy. The car had 5 miles on it when we test drove it.
It's ours now. Everything seems great. I plan on enjoying the ride, but still...am I missing something?

I also took my Edmunds Price Promise certificate to another dealer (after calling to confirm they would honor the price) and once in the showroom was told they would not honor the price.
So, if this deal happened a little too easily, please understand my caution and skepticism.
