Car Buying Advice-Good price on 2017 Elantra SE purchase?

edited March 2017 in Hyundai
I have offer on 2017 Elantra SE auto with pop pkg ($800 msrp) for approx. $18000. Plus I get $2500 in applicable rebates. Where I live in CA, out the door is about $17,000. Helping child get a car on graduation from college so could wait until end of April. Any thoughts if a good price and whether past history shows prices similar or worse around Easter?

Also, anyone know if I buy and transfer to my child later would she keep the new 5yr/60K warranty? I've heard she would lose 1/2 the 10 year warranty - true?

Finally, there is a uber bonus of $1000. Can you sign up for this and get it even if you never drive for uber?

Any help is appreciated Thanks

Use the Make/Model/Year tabs at the top of the page to "build" your vehicle, and get Edmunds TMV.

The 5/60 warranty should transfer, but the 10 year warranty probably won't.
To help her establish credit, it might be better to put it in her name, with you as a co-signer, even if you are paying for it.

OK I was in the same situation. I needed a car for a college student. You are eligible for the uber discount but need to show proof that your status is active for driving, vehicle registration, insurance, and inspection. you can also take advantage of Boostup.com social savings website, the account has to be open for 30 days to use the incentive and hyundai will match up to 500 through this program. Other offers by hyundai include $500 loyalty discount, $500 for Miltitary personel active or non active, $400 graduate incentive in the last 2 years or within the next 6 months using the HMF for the loan.
That all being said I bought the Value Edition Elantra for $18300 out the door.

    All warranties should transfer

Oh and Capitalone auto finance is top notch for pre-approval credit applications for people with mediocre to excellent credit. I forgot to mention, yes I signed up for Uber and drive on occasion in the new Elantra ! =)

Great question! It's hard to predict what rebates will be available in the future. Typically, the discount off the MSRP of a car (not including rebates/incentives) usually gets better as the year goes on or at least the dealership is more willing to discount the car as it ages on their lot.

The Uber Rebate does reflect these requirements (inquire about additional details through a Hyundai Dealership):

    * Must be a registered Uber Driver
    * Must provide an approved copy of the Uber Driver Dashboard showing active driver registration at the time of purchase

The 10 year 100,000 mile warranty is not transferable to another owner. Technically, the only time the second owner can get the 10yr/100K mile warranty is if the car was traded in to a Hyundai dealer and then resold as a manufacturer's Certified Pre-Owned car.

    I hope that helps!

Ah, That's right the 10yr 100,000 powertrain only transfers to second owner under CPO sales

Here is what was an acceptable deal for me. April 2017 purchase: Brand new 2017 Elantra Value Edition, paid $15,200 + tax, license, title. MSRP was $21,415 . Suggested price including dealer adds at dealer cost was $21,658. Has anyone done better?
