Hello! I've owned my truck for almost 8 years now.. have done all regular maintenance to it thru professionals. Have never serviced the transmission and I'm afraid that it might be giving up on me... Truck runs fine all the time.. when i first start it to back up out of my driveway it does not move. Till it does does move and it shakes. It just did it yesterday. I'm hoping it's not the trans.. I'm thinking about getting the trans serviced but i read that the new oil could do more damage.. any thoughts, opinions will be greatly appreciated! And I'm a woman so please give me lots of details thank you!

You don't have any reason to think the transmission was serviced in the first two years of life either. How many miles are on that trans now?

I think it'd be worth asking a reputable transmission shop if reluctance to go into reverse is a sign of a clogged filter and old fluid. It might be that a drain and fill with the proper GM recommended fluid and a new filter might increase the pressure and give a good reverse engagement. A good trans shop will know the symptoms for that transmission. They might tell you this is the sign it needs a complete overhaul and don't waste money on a drain and filter.
