1994 ford ranger running rough then died wont start

for the past few months my 94 ford ranger has been acting strange it would run fine then start to run real rough like it was miss fireing and the check engine light would come on and then go off it did this again today then it died and wont start it turns over fine but wont start HELP PLEASE...

    The '94 Ranger uses OBD-I/EEC-IV codes, so I know you could buy a scanner that could read that code, at least from the Google search I did. You might check with someplace like Autozone to see if they can do a code reading for you, at least to give you an idea of what might be going on.

    ok so I bought the obd 1015 scanner and it gave me no codes at all
