The $42005 is the negotiated price we have come to (so isn't that the CAP cost of the car?).

$2000 due at signing is not the same as $2000 down.

The adjusted CAP cost is the selling price, plus anything you don't pay upfront, minus any amounts paid upfront that reduce that number. It's analagous to the "amount financed" on a loan.
