Adding Hitch Receiver to Front of Santa Fe

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a solution that will allow me to carry my bikes camping when pulling a pop-up camper. I want to avoid drilling holes in my camper's roof and want to make use of the hitch-mounted bike rack that I already have.

I was thinking about the feasibility of installing a 2" hitch receiver to the FRONT of my 2015 Santa Fe XL for the sole purpose of loading bikes.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I know it's now common but can it be that different from adding a bush guard?

I think companies like Swagman and Saris made front hitches. I've seen them used, especially on pickup trucks, but I don't have any personal experience with a front hitch. I use a rear one.

Some considerations are that although a front bike hitch looks very convenient, you'll have to consider visibility issues (maybe take the bike seats off? and possible headlight glare off the bike rims at night.
