Clamp Phone Mount to Lip of Center Console of 2017 Murano?

Still struggling with what to do with the my phone in my Murano. What would be ideal for me would be to have the phone just to the left of the Climate Control "Auto" button, and I'm wondering about using a clip or clamp to attach onto the lip of the center console. E.g., Ram Mounts has a "tough claw" product that seems like it could work (I also think a less-polished DIY solution is possible using a large binder clip).
Just wondering if anyone might have tried something like this or have any suggestions.

I've tried all kinds of phone holders. The thing to watch out for is stability of the clamp. Some of them just aren't rigid enough, and as you go down the road, the phone bobbles and shakes--drives me nuts.

I've had good luck with this simple one--but, one caveat--it's not a one-handed operation to remove or install it:

Simple and cheap and it does work once you find a good spot for the suction cup to work.

The problem with that one is that I had a CD player with a detachable face, and the mount moved around too much---REJECT!

This is one I haven't tried yet--the vent holder.

LAST OF ALL---there are the more expensive ones that clamp onto your windshield--I don't like these because they interfere too much with my vision---but they do work.

Sometimes you can find very specific phone holders for your particular car--I know that for my Mini Cooper, for instance, they make a mount that using the anchoring bolts for the tachometer--a perfect fit, very sturdy, but pricey. Maybe your dealer has an accessory like that, fitted exactly to your Murano? Worth a try.

My favorite is one that slides into the CD player slot -- been using it for years with no wobbling or surprises but my CD player doesn't have a removable face so that may make a difference.
