Towing - F-150

Towing capcity of our F 150 XLT Series Supercab 4x4 3.5 liter V6 Eco boost, with a Max Vehicle Towing Package, and a axle ratio of 3.55, is 12,100 lbs. Our travel trailer empty is 5497 lbs. Our initial pull in the "Tow Haul" mode of the empty trailer we noticed a surging or lurching feeling as we drove Interstate 71. Any help or advice would be greatly appriciated.

    Poking around online, I found info that says the manual says it re-programs the shift point (stays in lower gears longer) as well as keeping the transmission engaged when coasting in order to take advantage of engine braking.

    Could be that the re-programming was expecting a heavier load than your empty trailer?
