Hello, first time posting here. I looking to get a larger vehicle for my expanding family. We currently own a 2003 Mazda protege5 that has served us well. I am currently considering 3 different vehicles:
2007 Mazda cx9 awd with 145000 kms. Took it for a test drive and enjoyed it. Concerned about its reliability. How long could this car last? The site does not score it very well.

2007 mitsubishi outlander xls with 187000kms.

2007 ford freestyle select with 146000kms. I read the motor is on the week side. Not the best highway car. Concerns it's may not be as fun as ride.

Any thoughts and experience with these 3 choices would be greatly appreciated. Open to other

Of those, I'm pretty sure the Mazda would prove the most reliable.

I agree... however, my friend's CX-9 just lost an engine.. $6000 to replace with a used one. :s

That cx9 though is ford based. Does it use the ford V6 also?

I would take the Mazda on an extended test drive and work the transmission, and pay close attention if you feel any hard shifts or slippage. Also listen for noise from the front struts when going over bumps.

Yes that year Mazda CX-9 still used the Ford CD3 platform and the Ford V-6. (3.5L Cyclone engine).

Ford seems to have a problem with engines lasting, at least more than others I've heard about.

What are your thoughts on a 2006 subaru tribeca with 152000kms?

    Kinda underpowered IMO.

Mr_shiftright thank you so much for the input. Also thanking about a 2007 hyundai veracruz . I'm all over the map. Lol. Lots of test driving to do. This has helped narrow my search down ☺
