2014 LaCrosse dash board lights went dim.

I have a 2014 Buick lacrosses and the dash board lights and my radio just went dim then got bright then went back dim then went back bright them now there dim again what does that mean any one no.

Sounds like daytime running lights system working. In bright light situation it will put interior lights on bright setting. If you drive under overpass or other temporary darkened area it will put them in nighttime dim mode and it will switch back and forth as drive in various light conditions.

The instrument lights may also be affected if the wipers are on (or the automatic control is left on for rain-sensing wipers). The headlights on will put the instrument cluster lights under control of the interior dimming control, probably a knob on the dash.

If the sun is low in the sky sometimes the headlamps are turned on instead of the DRLs and the instrument lighting then is dimming and is controllable by the knob on the dash.

To test if the lights are operating correctly, be sure to be in night or in full sun overhead.
