She had plenty of money left. Otherwise she couldn't have bought the box of pastries. ;)

They did frown on the sport package

I actually like the sport pakg. better. You don't get air conditioned seats or dual panel roof, but I would get the sport tech pkg. It is SICK!!!!

Love the Titan. I sold 2 Titans last month. We haven't been that slow on the truck market up here in New England.

Which Titan do you own? Which trim level?

I didn't get to the story last night as I took a vicoden and fell asleep while watching the DNC. Later I felt the spasms return and tood two this time. Bad mistake. Although I took them with food I got really nauseated and felt worse. Kind of put a crimp on my writing, so instead of giving you a bad story I decided to get some rest until I felt better. So here I am....

We head out back to the boulevard but this time in a Corolla LE. She guns the engine and is very impressed with the quick accelaration. "Wow! This is really peppy! I like it!..same route?" she asks. "Sure." I reply.
We get on the expressway and she purposely misses the exit to drive the car some more. "Oops! I missed the exit. Where do I get off now?" she asks. "Keep going a couple of miles and we'll take the Brambleton avenue exit and make a sort of a u-turn to get back on the expressway." I tell her. The exit is right up ahead and we do the turn around and head back to the dealership. When we get back she parks next to her Saturn and walks around both cars to compare the size. "It's slightly bigger than my Saturn. I think I really like the Corolla better. Here's what I'd like to do if you don't mind. I would like to take a brochure on the Corolla and also on the Yaris. Could you find out for me how much weight I can tow with either car? also, is there someone that can look at my car and tell me how much I can get for it?." she continues.."I still have to run some errands but I would like to set up an appointment to come back and do all those things. Is that ok with you?" Wow, she would make a heck of a sales person. "That would be fine. It takes about 15-20 minutes to have your car appraised if the used car manager is not busy. I believe you can tow 1000 lbs with the Corolla but I will double check. I don't think towing is recommended with the Yaris but I will have the answers for you in our next meeting."
We walk into the showroom and I get her the brochures and staple a business card to each of them. I show her the specs sheet and the color availability on both and at the same time look for the towing capacity. There is none listed for the Yaris nor the Corolla which tells me that towing is probably not recommended. I tell her this but promise to check with my ace mechanic and also call Toyota technical.
Next day is a wednesday so I take my day off.
On Thursday one of the new greenpea's comes over and tells me Ruth stopped by on wednesday and he showed her a Corolla and they test drove it again. Frank has just joined the sales force after spending a few months in our detail department. He's a nice kid and a hard worker but seems a bit overwhelmed with the sales side of the business. He tells me the lady (Ruth) had lots of questions and he didn't have the answers so he felt very bad. I told him not to worry and that the answers would come as he got more familiar with the product.
I call Ruth and she tells me she was not impressed with Frank. "He just joined the sales department so he's not quite up to speed on the product." I tell her. "They should give him more training before letting him talk to customers. He had no answers for my questions and was basically useless.!" she exclaims. I felt sorry for Frank as I could just imagine how he had felt after dealing with Ruth. I could tell she was a very demanding woman.
"So what else did you do yesterday while you were here?" I ask her to get away from discussing Frank. "Someone looked at my car and they quoted me what I think is a fair figure. I could probably sell it myself but I just don't have the time. I have to drive up to Pennsylvania this weekend to see my mom. She has a back problem that's deteriorating and she doesn't want to go ahead with the surgery she needs. She's getting old and needs someone to be around her. My sister lives closer to her than I do but she has other responsibilities." she continues. 'So which one car did you decide on?" I ask. "I'm leaning towards the Corolla but I'm waiting to find out what the towing capacity is." she tells me. "I contacted Toyota Motor Sales in Torrence California and the person I spoke with told me that towing is not recommended with the Yaris at all. The Corolla they suggest you keep it at 1000lbs with a class II or III hitch." I explain to her. "How much will it cost to have a tow hitch installed?" she asks. "Toyota doesn't offer one for the Corolla so I will have to call an outside provider I do business with and see what he recommends. Can I call you right back after I call him?" I ask. "Yes, that would be fine. How long do you think it will be?" she asks. "No more than 15 minutes."
I call my buddy Brent at Cap City USA and he tells me he can order one and have it here in about 5 days. Total installed: $199.00 I call Ruth and give her the news and she's excited. Now it's just a matter of picking out the color and negotiating the deal..........................TO BE CONTINUED..............

Thank you! I can't wait. Little Vic the third is spoiled beyond belief! We keep a set of toys for him here at my house that the last time they came down I was on the phone with him and told him we would be kicking the soccer ball around in the back yard and he goes: "I have a soccer ball papa?".."Yep, it's one your uncle bought for you and keeps it in his room. You'll see it." .. "Oh, ok."

Will the next generation Prius incorporate noise makers?

The blind community, led by the National Federation for the Blind, is concerned about that dangers that hybrids, especially the Prius, pose to the blind community. Their concern is that the hybrids are so quiet that blind pedestrians can't detect them by their noise and could potentially step in front of a hybrid that they weren't able to hear.

Power Windows power locks were the only option. Still a great truck. There is probably no trim badging on the back of the truck. Do you have a bench seat with the folding arm rest/storage center?

Back in 2004 when the Scion vehicles started arriving at Scion dealerships, a "reporter" from the Detroit Free press published an article on line about the Scion tC. He didn't bother to check his sources and I called him to the mat on it. I e-mailed him and gave him all the correct information and he never bothered to retract the article or make corrections.

That was a plant by toyota corp mktg. of course, they will never own it up.

This has already been resolved in India ages ago.

The wheels incorporate metal pieces that jingle as the wheels turn. Been in use with push/pull and bullock carts since they also never made any noise :shades:

Any of the pros familiar with the Cookie Jar Close? I've not seen it mentioned here before.

There's a dealer group in Kansas City that was using a scheme described as a Cookie Jar Close to move the metal. Apparently the dealership was offering ridiculously low monthly payments on suzukis. Customers flock to the store, but are disappointed to learn that the payments are really much higher. But then the dealer comes to the rescue with the special program cookie jar. The dealer gives customers enough money upfront to defray costs for about 6 months. The contract payment would be $250 and the dealer would pay enough so that the net cost to the customer was only $50 per month. That is until the either "special program" ended or the "customers credit situation changed"and the customer was on his own to come up with the full $250. The dealer washes his hands as it's now an issue between the customer and the bank.

So 650 unhappy customers later and the state AGs file law suits and someone torches some vehicles at one of the dealerships. Apparently the dealer also liked to doctor credit apps. Monthly incomes of $2400 became $6400. Length of employment would go from 1 to 11 years. I'm amazed that anybody would run a business this way and even more amazed that anyone would fall for it.

There is probably no trim badging on the back of the truck.

There was some amount of badging as it took me awhile to get it all off. Now if you were to look at my truck you would have no clue what so ever as to its make. No Nissan badging, no V8 Titan, and no nissan logos.

I replaced the front stock brake pads with ceramics at 90 miles as I couldn't stand the brake dust from the oem pads. Little did I know that I had stumbled on a cheap fix for the brake judder. Nissan was changing the rotors and pads and updating this and that and all they had to do was switch to ceramics which cause less friction. The rear pads were history at 22K miles. I couldn't believe it. Tires were history at 23K miles.

Yes it has the front bench with the huge fold down console. Did you know that these trucks didn't come with remotes? I asked the dealer if remotes were an option and they flat out said no. When I looked at the factory manual it stated that if the truck had power windows and doors the control for the remote door locks and window down feature was already installed. So off I went to ebay and found two remotes for $60, dealer wanted $125 each, programmed it and now I have remote entry.

I was planning on dumping my Yukon Denali and looking at the QX56, Armada. and the Maxima until GM came out with their employee pricing. A new '08 Yukon Denali I priced out at $29.9K +TTL. Makes it awful hard to look at anything else even with gas prices as they are.

ob....as much trouble as I've had with GM products in general, I have to admit, my Tahoe has been sterling. Build and materials are as good, or better than the stuff in the same price class.

MPG is what it is when it comes to these beasts. You want/need a tow/haul vehicle? Or, even one that makes a good highway cruiser, you'd be hard pressed to find a better ride than that Denali. Plus, for what you get, the price right now is just outstanding.

Better get lots of coffee then since this one is going to take a while.
To give you an idea, it spans two generations of Corolla and an 08 Prius. ;) It's an excellent story and well worth the wait if I may say so.
I am writing a book so will be needing a publisher. At the rate I'm going it will probably be a while for it to be completed. I have a title for it already which you can probably guess. I'm going back through my buyer's orders so I can recall the sales and the stories that went along with them. It's hard to decide which to include and which to leave out. If I do get it published all my Edmund's friends will get an complimentary autographed copy.

Yes that was a flat out lie. Someone probably stole the remotes. ... Do you have two remotes now? If you have any problems with that I would be happy to teach you how to program the remotes with out paying a service department. When we sell used cars they ussualy only come with one or no remotes. Than they call me to reprogram a remote from a lease return or another used car. To save the $125/ remote.

There are several threads on priuschat.com regarding the proposed legislation.

In one of the threads See msg #14 (click here) there is a copy of a research paper studying blind pedestrian deaths.

    Quick summary:
    • Hybrids appear no more dangerous than other vehicles, in terms of all pedestrian deaths.
    • There has been no reported case of a blind pedestrian being killed by a hybrid.
    • The legally blind appear less at risk than others, in terms of pedestrian deaths per capita.
    • By and large, there appears to be little difference between blind and sighted pedestrian in terms of how and why they die in vehicular crashes.
    • 37 percent of both blind and sighted pedestrian decedents tested positive for alcohol.

So, will concerns like this affect hybrid sales?

MPG is what it is when it comes to these beasts. You want/need a tow/haul vehicle?

My current Denali with 20" rims is returning a solid 10.7 mpg with about 70% highway and 30% city driving. Since it's been in the shop only once for warranty repair and has just turned 40K miles I've been hesitant to trade it. This GM employee prcing sure makes it tempting.

obyone....don't know if you're doing any towing with your current Denali, but the current Tahoe/Denalis (with the 5.3L) will net you about 14-15 MPG. At least, that's what mine returns. I even got 19 MPG on two separate occasions....one a highway trip to Chitown, another to Nashville.

Say what you will about GM and Ford, but most will admit, they do know how to make some of the best full-size trucks and SUVs (save for the Escalade and Navigator...whose purpose on earth still baffles me).

This is funny or ironic. I sold a Prius to a legally blind man last year. His wife drives it so I think we are ok.
In all my years of driving I don't think I've come across a blind person crossing a street. Don't they have seeing eye dogs anyway?

    Which reminds me;
A couple of weeks ago I was heading home and Mrs. Mack calls me and tells me to stop by the grocery store to pick up a gallon of milk. Not wanting to go out of my way for a gallon of milk I stop at the closest 7-11. I walk in and head back to the coolers to look for the milk when I see a blind man and his seeing eye dog walk in. He stops in the middle of the store and then grabs the dog's leash and begins spinning the dog over his head. I'm stunned and so is the clerk behind the desk!! 'Excuse me sir! Can I help you??!" exclaims the clerk in disbelief.
"No thanks. I'm just looking around." replies the blind man. image

5.3 Denali? My wife's Denali has the 6.0 as I thought all Denalis have. She traded a 5.7 Tahoe to get 1. Bigger engine for towing
    2. HID headlights
    3. I liked the stereo upgrade.

ps we're not using up all the worlds resources as I have a Toyota Solara which we use frequently while the Denali sits in the garage unless we need to haul or tow.

mako....I don't know which motor Denalis use. I assumed (we all know what that means) that they used the same motor as the Tahoe.

Isn't it just the GMC clone of the Tahoe?

I've used my Tahoe for towing in the past. Never gave much thought to whether I needed a bigger motor. Then again, I wasn't towing a big heavy camper, either. Aside from the hybrid, I don't even think there is an optional, bigger engine for the Tahoe.
