Just Quoted from Dealer on Audi Q7 2.0T Premium Plus

I negotiated a purchase price of $62,895 on an Audi Q7 2.0T Premium Plus with almost all the packages and an MSRP of $65,395, and just told them that I want to do it as a lease instead. Below are the vital stats, I'd appreciate advice from an Edmunds Car Shopping Advisor (or anyone else that wants to chime in!). I'm in Houston, TX 77005, where the 2018 Audi Q7's are flying off the lots pretty quickly.

MSRP: $65,395
Selling Price: $62,895
Cap Cost: $63,651
Doc Fee: $157.25
Money Factor: 0.00230
Miles per year: 7,500
Residual Value (he gave it to me as a percentage, and I have an email in to confirm that it's being measured by reference to the MSRP and not the adjusted price): 62% for 36 months, 60% for 39 months, 58% for 42 months
Cash down: zero
Monthly payment: $1,067 for 36 months, $1,045 for 39 months or $1,028 for 42 months
Acquisition fee: $895
Audi Care: $869
Phantom Footprints (not entirely clear on what this is, but I think it's gap insurance): $259

I'd prefer to do a 36-month lease, but if there's some benefit to doing 39 or 42, the difference of three or six months doesn't seem too onerous.

Thanks in advance!

The residuals are correct, with AudiCare.
36 month money factor is .00168
39/42 month money factor is .00188
Tax in Texas is on the full selling price of the vehicle.
Phantom Footprints is likely some sort of window etching garbage.
All Audi leases already include GAP insurance.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted CAP cost.
Using their inflated MF, you'd need an adjusted CAP of $69.800 to get to that $1067 payment for 36 months.
You want an itemization of how they got from $62,895 to that number.

The money factor bump alone is adding $68/mo. to the 36 month payment.

When it come to buying, timing is everything. Your price in October was probably a very good deal, but I always buy cars in December after Christmas as dealers are trying to reach quotas and that can lead to additional discounts to both dealers and customers. I am picking tomorrow’s my new 2018 q7 prestige msrp 70,060. Final negotiated price inclusive of (750 loyalty rebate), 5 year service and registration fees 61,136. No connections with the dealership.
