Accept Vehicle Replacement or Take Refund?

Lincoln has formally offered a vehicle replacement or cash refund for my 2016 Lincoln MKX Reserve (rotten egg odor and engine shut down issues).  Refund amount is currently unknown.  My vehicle is in pristine condition with 13,000 miles (less than 5,000 miles when issues first documented).  I do not want any out-of-pocket expense for a replacement vehicle.  Should I accept an identical replacement vehicle or the refund (and then purchase another make of vehicle). Thanks!

How will they give you an identical vehicle? They don't make 2016 models any more, right?

What exactly are they offering you?

Amount of offered refund is still being processed. By identical vehicle, I meant same make, model and options. I am looking for direction as to if, generally speaking, it is better to accept a replacement vehicle or the cash.

If you can get a new replacement, I'd go that direction, but I doubt they'll offer you a new car.

Are you doing this under Lemon Law?

Yes.  I Initiated the process directly (no attorney) with Lincoln.  They sent an “engineer” to the dealership to inspect my vehicle and later informed me it qualifies under California’s Lemon Law.

Good news.  Lincoln offered (and I accepted) a refund of the TOTAL amount of the purchase price including registration fees.

Well good for you. Glad it worked out in your favor. So will you try another Lincoln or Ford product?

Thank you.  Not another Lincoln, maybe a 2018 Ford Explorer and pocket a little cash. In no rush, so we’ll see!
