2010 Equinox Engine Horror Story

December 22, 2017 wife's 2010 Equinox got reduced power light & wouldn't move. Towed to dealership & now they say they're fixing oil consumption problem- pistons & rings but found a cracked head & that'll be $$$$ please. Oil consumption has been documented as she babied it since purchased new in 2010 and dealership knew about it. She kept every receipt. 85,000 miles & they know this is their faulty engine & cause is in the lap of Chevrolet. Can't seem to get registered on the chevy Equinox forum, did they know I was coming over there? LOL. Anyhow, I've seen where chevy dropped in the improved engine for owners of the 2010 with similar if not identical problems. Not sure anyone here can direct me to a solution where Chevy pays to make it right, just blowing off some steam & if other Equinox owners share their journey I'd be delighted.

I bought my Equinox new off the lot in 2010. It was babied also. Always brought into the dealer and they did the oil changes. It had under 10, 000 miles when first blew timing chain. In for repairs. At under 50,000 miles whole air conditioning system shot. In for repairs. At 110,000 miles timing chain went again. In for repairs. at 111,000 miles 3rd and reverse went in tranny. They also found I was 2 qts low when just had changed 2wks prior. Rebuild tranny, put in new pistons and rings. I now how back but engine extremely loud. Not looking good. I have 8-9 thousand more miles and extended warranty up. So far GM has covered my bills.

I would sell it and get another car.
