I am not sure its just what they told me. I don know anything about cap cost. I was just told it would be 1563 out of my pocket

Be persistent, and ask the dealer for this information.

If they refuse to cooperate, then find another dealer who is willing to be more transparent about the process.

Can someone please confirm I am calculating this incorrectly and, if so, what I'm doing wrong? I'm calculating an estimated payment on a Nissan Maxima SL 12k/36 months in Bucks County, PA. The negotiated cost is being plugged in from Truecar. I know I can do a little better but my problem is I am arriving at a $512/monthly payment if I do only first month down. Surely this can't be right because no way I'm paying that for a Maxima.

I'll guess that the Maxima comes with big lease incentives that aren't reflected in TrueCar's price.

But, that's just a guess.. nothing wrong with your calculations. 50% is a really low residual

FYI: went to two dealerships in the PA area to try to negotiate a 2018 Maxima SL. Both dealers essentially told me that Nissan has pulled all incentives/rebates which results in payments in like the $700s. They told me they aren't even going to give me an offer because I'll find it insulting. Apparently Nissan has never scaled back incentives this drastically from month to month and they expect this to get rectified soon.

Was a super odd experience (never had a manager refuse to even make an offer on a car before) but wanted to mention.

Interesting - we've also seen a big change in the Infiniti numbers for April, as well. Someone commented that April is the start of the new fiscal year for Nissan so numbers may be way different.

Keep us posted; if there are any mid-month corrections to the lease numbers, we may not see them.

FYI: they told me 49% residual and .00003 for 36/12k. 3,425 incentive. It felt reasonable but they couldn’t get me under $400 for a monthly payment so I decided to wait.

The low residual is what's hurting you. Don't expect it to go up, just hope the incentives increase to drive the payment down.

Finally got it done last night. 2018 Maxima SL, 36/12k, $400/month, true sign and drive (not even first month at signing). Maybe a better deal is out there but the number felt on par with what I was getting and I already love the car, so no complaints.

I got my 2017 SL last summer and still get thumbs up from other drivers once in awhile.
