Slave Cylinder issuses
05 Focus pedal went to the floor while driving and stayed. Browsed around online for symptoms, long story short, determined brake fluid leaks from underneath the transmission as soon as I fill the reservoir. Have taken car to two mechanics and both say it’s the pressure plate and to replace it ($700 - $900). However, no listed symptoms of a bad pressure plate exist, and neither mechanic actually disassembled the tranny to determine if it is in fact the clutch. Normally I would just replace everything, but I’m on a tight budget, and this is my work vehicle, so I’m losing money everyday. Should I just go with my gut on the slave cylinder or trust the mechanics’ word? I don’t feel they’re being thorough or straight up with me, but I could be wrong.
