2018 Nissan Rogue Car Buying Advice

So we're in Houston, TX and the wife wants us to go buy our first new car - a Nissan Rogue. We're looking at buying within the next 60 days. She wants the SL trim if we can afford it because she wants leather. I'm thinking the SV to help save on cost.
Just looking at a local dealers website, they're saying for FWD:
SV with the Premium Package - MSRP:$28,955 - Conditional Sale Price:$24,774
SL with the Premium Package - MSRP:$34,840 - Conditional Sale Price:$29,950
That's just what's listed - I haven't actually spoken to a salesman yet. Any advice on where to go from there? Ideally I'd say that I'd comfortably want to spend no more than $26000 but I dont think it'd be possible to get the SL down that low. Think I'll have have an unhappy wife?

From there you can request pricing reports that will be emailed to you, telling you what others in your area are paying for that model.
Normally, I'd suggest moving up in trim to get what your wife wants, but $5000 is a huge leap, just for options.
Maybe, lay it out for you wife, noting that those options add $100/mo., and seeing if she wants to drop going to Starbucks? Or, maybe just ask if she thinks it is worth $100/mo. for leather?
