air problem

So I just bought my first Subaru about two weeks ago and I love it, about four days ago the air system started acting up. It only works sometimes, most of the time it doesn't blow any air unless I'm on the highway and even then its a very weak amount of air. The temperature control still works and I can hear the vents opening and closing, and sometimes it works fine but if I shut the car off it most likely wont work when I turn it back on. I've checked the fuses and they are all good I just cant figure out whats up with it, hoping someone can help me out with this.

    Did you check that it's not in recirculate mode?

    it doesn't work in or out of recirculate mode. i got in contact with the previous owner he instructed me to unplug the blower motor and plug it back in but that didn't help, i did however find out that i can make it work by giving the blower motor a love tap
