2013 Passat Clock Spring?

I have a 2013 Passat. Over the weekend, the airbag light came on, the horn won’t sound, nothing on the steering wheel works and it sounds like it’s clicking when I turn. Took it to the dealership today and was told the clock spring needs to be replaced at a cost of $530! I had the recalled airbag replaced about 4 1/2 months ago. After a lot of research, it seems that the clock spring should have been protected or replaced as well on certain vehicles. I called VW customer support and according to my VIN#, my car is not one of them.

Not sure if it’s me posting on my phone, but my entire comment didn’t post? Anyway... I have NEVER had an issue with my car until I took it in for the airbag recall. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated before the case manager calls tomorrow. TIA!
