Do you guys know if the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit is actually applied to a Bolt EV lease to reduce the capitalized cost?

No... you don't get the tax credit, the leasing bank does.
And, on a lease, they get less than $7500.

On many electrics, they pass on the credit by giving you a rebate. But, we don't see that on the Bolt.
However, the Bolt has normal everyday car residuals, while many other electrics have residuals that are 20%/25% less.

With those prices, I get $439/mo.

If this is a true "sign and drive" lease, that payment looks quite strong.

I asked the GM a half dozen times: "All I have to do is show up, sign, and get the keys. $0 out of pocket and you pay the first payment right?" He's said yes every time. He showed the payment and term at 39 months at first, then said he could do the same payment for 36 when I balked at 39, which makes me think there's still meat on the bone  Aside from lowering the sale price I don't know where I could improve the payment. This was the result of a five hour marathon at the dealership.

MF and Residual on a LT and Premier with 36/10 in SoCal?

Got a quote for a Premier and something doesnt add up:

    MSRP: 43,835
    Discount: $4,500
    Manufacter Rebate: $500
    Net Selling Price: $38,835
    Sales Tax: $3,744
    Reg Fees: $636
    Sales Subtotal: $43.215.43

    MF: .00099
Residual: 53% - this is what he said -- i told him i thought it was 57% but he said no....

    Lease Credit: $2,000
    Zero-drive off, including tax: $519.44

That doesnt seem right to me, am I missing something? Thanks.

    Hmmm....

I show 54% for 36/10 on the Premier.

CA taxes the monthly payment on a lease, so ignore the tax amount.

The number you want from the dealer is the adjusted cap cost, and a full accounting of how they reached that number from the selling price.

Hello what is the MF / Residual, incentives and other relevant metrics I should negotiate towards on 2018 Bolt EV premier in 94568?
Can you also explain how the 7500 Federal Rebate works. Do I claim that or is it claimed by GM and built into the lease as a discount on the MSRP. From what I have been quoted so far, no one is discounting the 7500 off the MSRP.

As the owner of the vehicle, the leasing bank gets the tax credit. Since it's a lease, it's lower than $7500, though.

It appears that GM has chosen to pass along the incentive with high residuals vs. the very low residuals we were seeing on electrics like the Leaf.

It doesn't matter who owns it, the credit is the same. GM is not 'passing on' the full tax credit. This has been discussed quite a bit on Bolt owner forums and is one reason people there are citing for buying their cars instead of leasing them.

By leasing you "get" the tax credit immediately but not in full. If you're in good enough financial shape to wait for the tax credit, and to handle the unpredictable depreciation - most EVs depreciate like a rock - it's possibly better to purchase.

The Bolt's range, efficiency, and mainstream looks mean that it MAY favor much better than prior electric cars; a year and a half into production and only Tesla is remotely close to the $/range ratio...but the 3 is a much less practical/desirable sedan compared to the bolt's wagon body (GM laughably calls it a crossover, believe it or not) and they won't make the stripped down "37k" Model 3 until late summer (if they stick to their quoted plans.Given the huge manufacturing delays, that seems very unlikely. Also, the 2019 is barely changing (but more driver assistance stuff is now available in the LT trim) so prior model years should retain value. Reportedly they won't be doing a major overhaul for a couple more years, more good news for depreciation.

I'll agree with everything but... the tax credit to the bank is NOT $7500 on a vehicle that is purchased to be leased. It's lower. That's not just the Bolt, but every leased vehicle that qualifies.

Hi - Appreciate getting your thoughts on this offer from Oregon.

Dealer will take my Prius toward down payment - value is $5,000

Here is what they offered assuming I give them the Prius

    Residual amount: $22,849.10
    Adjusted Cap Cost: $34,660.47
    Interest Rate: 2.83%
    Rebate: $1,500
Monthly payment based on 10k miles per year: $396.99

$5000 upfront and $400/mo.? In a state with no sales tax?

Doesn't seem like a deal to me.
