    What's too short? The axle?

Driveline that we had repaired.  Right now its just in 2wd.   My dads the working on it & he's stumped, he's talked to dodge mechanics but not getting anywhere.  I'll have more info on later today.  I don't understand  how  the  driveline  that came out  of it  is now too short  to go back on.

Is it the driveshaft from the transfer case to the front axle that is too short? It does have a slip joint that should plunge in and out allowing for suspension to move. First thought is maybe it is compressed and simply sticking and not sliding out to the normal length.

Can you post photos of the issue and describe exactly what was repaired and maybe some photos of that too?
