Clicking in my front end

Hello. I have a 1999 Jeep, Cherokee, 6 cylinder, 4.0 liter, 4 wheel drive. When I make a turn, either left or right, I have a rather loud clicking sound. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Does it need lubrication or is it something else.

    Lots of possibilities here.

Is this only rotational, that is, does it only happen when you turn the wheel AND the Jeep is in motion, or can you get the noise by just turning the wheel at idle?

Does the noise speed up or slow down as you speed up and slow down?

You may need to go up on the rack and have things checked out--specifically I'll look for u-joint or CV joint issues, also the fluid level in the front differential, also some kind of tire problem (something stuck in the tire), maybe also issues with the brake pad anti-rattlers.
