Very high revving and poor gas miliage

When I first got this vehicle I was impressed with the gas mileage and underwhelmed with the pickup. I bought it as I loved my 2014 Highlander but wanted the safety features. I was getting 19 around town and 26 on NJ highways. Then something changed, around 10,000 miles. It now revs up 4000 RPM on the easiest acceleration. I went on-line and there was a suggestion for me to change the air filter. No better after I changed it.
If I go to the dealer I know I will hear that it is my driving. Any suggestions.
