Intake Manifold Noise/heat Shield
I am replacing the intake manifold on a 2003 lincoln towncar and the old manifold set inside a 'noise shield'. New manifolds do not come with this shield. Can I put the new manifold in place without a noise/heat shield present? Do I need to replace the noise/heat shield with any insulation? It is my understanding that the shield is used to reduce heat to the manifold, and arrest excess noise to the knock sensor. Not sure what to do next...please advise. Thank you.
