Does my piston need to be replaced?

My engine has been knocking for some time now, I finally figured out the head gasket had blown between two cylinders. I got down to the head gasket today and my analysis was confirmed. Unfortunately, when I took the cylinder head off, I noticed damage to the piston, though there was no debris present. I assume this means this has been true since the previous owners. Judging from this picture, does the piston need to be replaced?

That piston damage is only part of the picture. You not only need to replace the piston, you need the cylinder wall inspected by a machinist. You also need the connecting rod checked and it would not be a surprise if this has also suffered rod bearing damage.
