If a person is using logic and reason to make a decision (and not just emotion), then "the deal" should absolutely be a factor, especially if it comes down to two vehicles that he or she likes best.

There's no way to know what you'll be happy driving two to three years from now, but the financial agreement you make with the dealership will remain the same throughout the term of the lease. My experience tells me that being happy with the financial agreement is an essential part of being happy with the car overall.

I'm not suggesting that you ignore one to favor the other.

What I see are folks finding these threads, then asking for lease numbers on a dozen different vehicles. Some of them in the same class, but some not. I suspect they are looking for that 'perfect' deal of an insanely high residual and miniscule MF. Which, you might be able to find.

My suggestion is to go out and do some test drives and see what you like, and don't like. If the final decision is between 2 or 3 models, then yes, the deal may be the deciding factor.

Those folks who score a killer deal will occasionally come back and complain about their car for some reason or another.

I'm a guy who likes cars, and lucked into the role of a moderator. On my last two leases, I could have spent less money, but on cars I wouldn't want to drive. I don't think of cars as "point A to point B" appliances. Others might. Room enough here for all of us.
