Why is there a delayed start on my '05 Dakota when I turn the key?

When I go to start my '05 Dakota all the lights that are supposed to come on,on the dash light up. But there is no clicking or nothing. It'll usually start eventually if I wiggle it around a little bit or if I turn it all the way to the start position and hold it there for a few seconds.

It is likely that the ignition cylinder and/or another part in the steering column has worn excessively and needs replacement. Also likely that you will get 'stranded' sooner - wiggling/etc won't help.
