Engine swap - upgrades before the swap? - to prepare for more torque

I now own an old 88' ford mustang lx with a 2.3L 4 cylinder that tops out at a whopping 90 horsepower. Obviously I need an engine swap seeing as it has 170k on the odo. The question is, If I went with a 5L 8 cylinder engine swap with roughly 300 horsepower and decent amount more torque what would be good upgrades to prepare for the swap? (So that I'm not dropping an engine into this vehicle and having my axel tear away from the body xD)
