Admin and processing fees

HI,
Am new here. This is a question specifically about this one dealership. I am wondering if anyone has purchased a Honda from Honda Gallery in Reading Ma recently. I am about to purchase a 2018 CRV EXL with Navigation. They added approximately $429 for processing/documentation/administration fees. I said I didn't want to pay that because it's just a bogus profit center for them. The sales guy, nice guy, brought out the Assistant General Manager, also a nice guy, who proceeded to tell me that every vehicle they sell, even to their own employees, includes this fee - nothing they can do about it. I said fine list that fee if you have to but deduct the 429 from sales price or from some of the "extras" I added (rubber floor mats, etc). Again he said no. Has anyone out there purchased from them during 2018 and if so did you have to pay the documentation/processing/admin fee? Thanks for your help.

You did the right thing.... Instead of negotiating the fee, you just opted for a lower selling price, taking the "fee argument" out of play.

They didn't want to lower their price, so find another dealer. Fighting the fee is a waste of your time. But, before you negotiate the next price, find out the fees ahead of time, so you can adjust your offers.

Exactly. Just look at the final number you want to pay, regardless of what they pack in there.
