Odd knocking on rear driver's side

I have a 2008 CRV and have had quite a bit of unexpected work done. The car has 90,000 miles. Despite having a strut replaced as well as the emergency brake or something related to it that was making a horrendous noise, I now am noticing a knocking sound in the rear driver's side at low speeds. The Honda dealership did a lot of work at my last tune up, etc. 3,000 miles ago (which was when the strut was replaced along with an oil pan). I was told that my power steering rack was on life support but maybe we could limp along for a few more years by keeping an eye on the fluid levels. That trip to the repair section was $2,500. Now the knocking. Research suggests something to do with a differential ...? Is this a big deal? Anyone want to take a guess at what's going on? I don't want to get a new car now but I guess I don't want to be dumb.

There's no way to diagnose this remotely. You'd have to have a mechanic along to verify your complaint and possibly isolate the circumstances. The mechanic would need a lot more information as to the location, when the noise happens (all the time, only over bumps, on turns, when you apply or let off the gas, in cold weather, warm weather, wet weather, etc. etc.). So there are a lot of variables that could give clues.
