Interior light comes on while driving 1997 Chevy Blazer

97 Chevy Blazer interior light (dome) will come when I am driving. I have to open the passenger door and slam it to shut it off. I recently had the starter replaced. Is it a loose ground? When I park it and come out the next day, the battery is drained. I'm getting a little tired of always having to jump it to get it started. Any ideas on what it may be? Thanks in advance for any help.

A loose ground wouldn't drain charge, that would open the circuit. Most likely a short circuit somewhere. Since slamming the door works, the first thing I would look at is the switch that turns off the light that's on the passenger side. If that's sticking/faulty and the light is staying on, that seems a likely candidate.

The light stays on, so that circuit is closed, and drains power. It still could be a short in wiring near that switch that the impact of slamming the door is physically disrupting, but the switch is the place I'd start. The swicth in th edoor is going to look like this

The dome light should go off when you push that switch in. If it doesn't, I think you will have the solution :)
