2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Key Light on Dash-Solid

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4. A month ago, it had the dreaded security start/stall after 2-3 seconds as if it was being stolen. I knew it was the PCM. I took it to a mechanic who ordered the PCM, and also changed the SKIM. A new key was ordered and programmed as well. The old keys would no longer work. All parts are back on, the Jeep starts, gauges work fine, seems to run fine, except the key with the line through it light is permanently on in the dash. It comes on 15 seconds after the Jeep starts. It is solid, not flashing. Does anyone know what would cause this? Will it run like this, or will it eventually shut down again? I drove it home from the mechanic shop, which is about 30 minutes from my house with no issues. Everyone, including the mechanic is stumped about this. I'm at a loss as well, as I don't want to have to take to a dealer. I'm afraid they would just want to replace everything new again. Any ideas?

At the risk of being oversimplistic....
2000 Grand Cherokee. Would not start after adding gas. The dreaded Skim key security problem. After exhausting local mechanic shops, dealer insights and You Tube videos of how to bypass, reprogram computer, clear computer etc.
My brother asked if the batteries in key fob were gone. Of course I said, no, not related.
But $10 later a quick drive to shoppers drug art for new key fob batteries, and she fired right up. I am just saying.......

Man do I feel foolish. Good luck to you all. If only someone had suggested this months ago....

This is easy to prove if it is just the battery in the FOBIC Key. If the battery is dead or missing then functions like the power door locks won't work with the key. The battery can be dead or missing and the key should still work in the lock cylinder because the SKIM ring around the lock cylinder powers up the chip in the key by a series of magnetic pulses. That's also why there are SKIM key's that have no buttons or batteries.
