Wondering how A/C is going to affect your mileage, or just having a climate control problem? This is the place to discuss it.

Does anyone know how does the HAH will perform when the air conditioning is running? I am moving to Las Vegas and I need a new car. I was considering buying a hybrid, but somebody told me that hybrids would not perform well when the air conditioning kicks in.

No one really knows yet, for sure, but the Accord hybrid DOES have the first in the hybrid industry "electric compressor" to allow the A/C to be run on the Hybrid battery and not be using fuel:

" Adding to overall efficiency is a "hybrid" air conditioning compressor that runs on both the gasoline engine and the IMA battery and provides for good air conditioning performance even when the engine is in Idle Stop mode. "

How do you figure that. The Prius has been that way for two years. It looks like they just bought the Denso system that was developed for the Prius.

    hello,
i live in florida and its been hot, absolutely no decrease in performance when a/c is running off the battery or at all (no more than normal).

My HAH was an impulse buy, and let me say I'm extremely happy with my purchase!! I LOVE this car! I'd been driving a 2002 accord V6 and loved it, and had been researching the HAH since I first heard that it was coming out, including lurking here on this site. But I liked the look of the 2-door and was waiting for a few years to see if they came out with the "perfect" HAH for me. One day I went to have my 2002 serviced and (add inspirational angels singing) there was a HAH sitting on the lot in the color I wanted. I rushed right in to see how much I could get on a trade-in, telling myself that if they met my demands I would buy it. And here I am!

My real question is this: Because I didn't seek out to find the exact car I wanted, I got one without navigation. Now I'm interested in getting it, but they don't sell it separately, only with a new car already installed. I found someone who's 2005 accord was totaled and they are selling the Nav system. Would this work in mine? BTW, I must admit that I'm falling in love with the look of my HAH as well as the convenience of having 4 doors!

Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

Any Honda dealer can help you install that NAVI. sys. in your car but I guess it is expensive relatively compared to the built-in NAVI. in terms of quality, workmanship and "error-free". The Accord '02 V6 is inferior to the HAH because I got one V6 '02 for my little kid now. As a middle-aged man, the 2 door Accord was something I did not like much but I spoiled my son so I bought the V6 '03 Coupe for him at his request. Its engine is exactly same as the sedan counterpart but it is not roomy inside. Also the ride is stiffer than the sedan because it is a real sport car with stronger suspensions.

My next Accord/ Acura hybrid will be having a NAVI. sys. too. When you get the NAVI. you cannot have none in your next car purchase. We can save spending on something else to spend for that NAVI. It is a very interesting integration of a NAVI. and the audio. It saves you time and gas when it guides your trips at night in strange and remote cities. The Acura's NAVI. is an advanced Blue-Tooth one.

I totally agreed with Dennis that the HAH is "a real piece of machinery". When it runs on highways all you can hear is it quietly purrs and stretches out its power effortlessly, real nicely. It turns, merges, accelerates, brakes, handle sharp curves...really impressively. I love it.

"Real people drive real cars". Last year, the '05 HAH was rated number 1 sedan, this year the Civic is rated 1. Odyssey is # 1 in Minivan, the Ridgline is also # 1 in truck category. Every category has one Honda vehicle. One friend of mine said he's been driving so many different sport cars and now he settles with a '04 V6 Accord EX sedan. I do not any further arguments with him. Long live Honda ! You make my life happier behind a Honda wheel. As a technical and a "sophisticated/ demanded guy" I love Honda's preciseness, accuracy and ceaseless innovation on its cars/ trucks. "Real engineers/ management drive real pieces of sophisticated machinery like Honda". Cant compromise for less.

Everyone appreciates your enthusiasm but Honda is certainly not pefect. Tell that to the people that have had problems with their automatic transmissions. As to the Ridgeline, that truck has had lots of problems as well (initially).

Anyone have any thoughts on how to shorten the NAV "start-up" time after you start the car? My '05 HAH NAV system takes approx. 23 seconds to warm up and during that time, I cannot start the A/C. This is not good on hot days!

Do you have your A/C on Auto? Mine starts up right away, I don't need to use the navi screen for it.

THanks. Will look at trying that. It probably says it in the manual. Just havent had time to finish reading it yet.

I am looking for a way to bypass the horrendously annoying, useless as crap startup screen that wants your "OK" you are going to obey the law or be struck by lightning.
Anyone come up with a workaround yet?

Google "modify your navigation system" including the quotes, and you will find a site that gives info of what has been done so far for the navi screen.

My 05 HAH drivers side door lock solenoid needs replaced. Anyone know how you remove the panel to get inside the door itself? Has this happened to anyone? How much that solenoid going to cost me? Any help welcomed. Thanks

Mine does too. It's around $150. Doesn't seem like this should go bad, does it?

This is a pretty common problem. I know it shouldn't be. I had to replace mine at 67k miles. The first thing is to pop the black mirror trim form the inside there are two clips that hold it on, you can do it with your hands. Next remove the rubber pad from the recess in the inside door handle, there is a philips screw that needs to be removed. Next remove the plastic cover from the interior door latch (there is a little tab at the rear of the cover. Remove the two philips screws in there. the door panel can be pryed using your fingers start at the loser front of the door and sork acreoss the botton and up the sides there are about 8 clips holding it on. A trim removal tool would be helpful if you have one. I did it with my fingereds and broke a mounting clip bracket off the inner panel ( a little jb weld fixed that). next lit the panel upwards and start disconnecting door latch cable and wire connectors from the backside of door panel.
Next peel back the platic vapor barrier from the inner door to gain access to the inside of the door. remove the screw (10mm) at the bottom of the door that holds the window track in place, it will need to be moved aside to remove the door actuator. Next remove the three philips head screws that hold the door latch mechanism to the door. unscrew the door lock button bracket by the and the scre holding the cable guide to the door lock. Now you can maneuver the door latch assembly from inside the door. Be careful because the inside of the door has some pretty sharp edges.

There are some cables and screws that mate the door latch to the lock actuator.
remove te old lock actuator and replace. put everything back in the revese order. Make sure you get the window track properly attache at the top or window will bind(don't ask me how I know that).

There is a good write-up on www.driveaccord.net. Just search Lock actuator in the "7th Generation Forum".

    Hope that helps.
