Advice for Most Economical Solution
Hi,
A mechanic just told me my transmission is shot and there's nothing I can do about it but drop it and put in a different one. I'm asking for a second opinion because I can't afford that, or a new car, right now.
Car Info:
My 2005 Honda Accord is an LX-V6 model. 155,000 miles. Last transmission fluid/filter change was around 100,000 I think.
Issues Presenting:
1. Just recently I noticed a couple times that it seems like there's gear slippage when taking sharp left turns. Never happens any other time.
2. When driving about 15 mph on a hot day, the "D" light started blinking. I stopped completely, shifted into park, then back to D. Blinking went away and hasn't happened since.
So that's when I took my car to a transmission mechanic. He inspected the transmission fluid. Brown and smells a little burnt. He said don't bother with a fluid change because the tranny's dead now.
Do you all agree, or is there something I can do to squeeze more life out of this thing?
