Asking 3K+ over MSRP

Many dealers, while not showing it outright on their website, are quoting $3-5K over MSRP when it comes to pricing. I have heard this from at least 5 dealers in the NY/NJ/CT/PA area. One dealer mentioned Hyundai is "allowing" this practice. This makes the Palisade a $50K+ car

While there is supply and demand and those who want it will pay, I think Hyundai (and Kia with the Telluride) is testing the market if they can list a car at over $50,000 and people will still buy. I wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing the pricing creep up in the near future.

Remember, MSRP stands for Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price.

Just like you can negotiate a discount on 99% of the cars offered for sale, there is that 1% where the demand is greater than the supply, so the dealers make hay while they can. The factory cannot control what the dealer ultimately sells the car for.

Both Hyundai and Kia have already played in the $50K plus territory with the Genesis brand and Stinger. Doesn't seem to be slowing folks down from buying or leasing them.

Eventually, the supply and demand will even out, and you may be able to get these new SUVs for under sticker price. A year from now, probably a lot under sticker.

Watch what happens with the new Corvette when it's released. Expect $10-15K markups initially.

I just leased an SEL premium for $4215 under MSRP and then they subtracted $500 in lease cash. So just move on to a different dealer. $1000 down $419 (before tax) x 36 10k.

Wow! Which state? How'd you manage that?

I did notice in the past day there has been increased availability, hence more supply less demand.

Dealers are taking advantage of this new model. I went to a dealer a few days ago and MSRP was $41k and they were selling it for $50k. Mind you, this is the SEL Premium, not the limited.

The car had some dealer installed options that totaled about $4k and then had a "Market adjustment" price of $5k and they weren't too interested in dropping the price.
