I'm looking to get a V90 in the near future (R-design or CC). I finding it hard to evaluate what would be a good deal for a lease vs buying. Monthly payment is not a huge concern for me and I'm looking at a lease so that I don't have to deal with selling the car after three years. There isn't that much data for this car for resale, so I don't know how to compare the residual value for a lease vs depreciation for a sale after 3 years.

Any advice?

You are looking for a monthly lease payment of no more than 1.2% of MSRP, or less. If it's any higher than that, you'd probably be better off purchasing it. (Based on 36/15, and only first payment Due at Signing)

Just a general rule of thumb. Usually, if a lease payment is 1.0% of MSRP, or lower, then it is a killer deal. Of course, most models can't meet that level, due the lease program being offered.

Just looking at residual value won't help a lot. That is just one variable, with money factor and discount/incentives being the other two.

That's good advice, thanks! Wouldn't discount/incentives generally apply to purchase as well? In that sense, the discount/incentives equation would be the same right? Or am I looking at it the wrong way.

I am not in a huge rush to get a new car right now, so I'm keeping an eye out for Volvo incentives each month. That said, I probably won't be able to wait until end of model year so that I can snag a good deal on the 2020s.

My only point was, you can't judge a lease by just the residual. You have to see the whole package.

Inscription or R-Design?

So the ones in my area all have base MSRP of 54550. Which is neither the Inscription or R Design. Those are 51 and 53 respectively. Just the “V90 CC”

So I’m utterly confused in how to answer this question.
